Mariama N’Diaye

Urbanist, Humanitarian

Bio

Mariama N’Diaye completed her dual master’s degrees in city planning with the MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning and business administration at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Her studies seek to bridge innovation and product development in the public sector. Previously, Mariama received an EU-Schuman Fulbright Scholarship to spend a year conducting ethnographic research from a design-thinking lens in Milan. She examined how the city’s departments and agencies were working to support Milan’s growing non-EU migrant population.

Previously, she served as a manager of the social services discipline of Bloomberg Associates, the pro-bono consulting arm of the Bloomberg Philanthropies foundation. She led projects domestically in support of President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Challenge, and internationally in support of several marginalized communities. She worked in Paris on creating the city’s first homeless count. In Milan, she focused on streamlining and building greater access to all city services for migrants, and in Lima, she focused on creating a citywide domestic violence awareness campaign, as rates of domestic violence increased dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mariama received a B.A. with Honors in political science from Williams College. She is devoted to supporting marginalized communities globally, and is passionate about economic development. Mariama is a proud Senegalese-American from Harlem, N.Y., and an avid solo traveler.
